About The Entry
Drawing inspiration from Suzhou Gardens, this interior renovation project employs the design techniques of scenery concealing/framing/borrowing, creating a space that blends Western modern design language and Eastern aesthetics.
The entrance, utilizing the “concealing” technique, adopts a partition wall to subtly veils the interior of the hotel, which can spark guests’ curiosity and desire to explore. The wall with a painting of a bridge over running water features a Chinese traditional plum blossom-shaped window to “frame” the external garden landscape, whereby natural scenery and human-made art complement and enhance each other. The extensive use of floor-to-ceiling windows in the hall, as an application of the “borrowing” technique, effortlessly fuses the interior decor with the nature outside, making guests feel as if strolling through a garden.
Neatly arranged square lighting fixtures hanging from the ceiling of the entrance add a modern touch, while the embedded light sources applied to the corridors not only guide the flow of movement, but also create a contrast of light and shadow to give a strong sense of depth.
Furthermore, the guest rooms take a calm neutral gray as the main color, and use gentle wooden materials, leading to a quaint, peaceful atmosphere. Its combination with modern art decorations and frosted glass screens integrates modernity into traditional aesthetics, well catering to modern people’s aesthetic preferences.
