About The Entry
In "The Elevator Effect," Isaac Asimov explores how elevators impact perceptions of time, space, and imagination, transforming the vertical movement of buildings into a seamless experience. Asimov theorizes that the compression of space and time influences experiences and interactions with the world, challenging imagination's constraints and offering new perspectives. This essay sheds light on how elevators shape perceptions and impact society. Moving to the second stage, I delved into the future's portrayal in 1960s movies and ads, comparing them to our present reality. While most differ, films like "2001: A Space Odyssey" and mid-century items, particularly Bauhaus furniture and architecture, have proven timeless in accurately predicting the future. Inspired by Bauhaus philosophy, my third stage involves the first use of metal in furniture, aiming to create pieces that appear machine-made yet possess unexpected elements, resulting in a truly unique design.
