SThree K.K. is a worldwide recruitment firm specializing in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) sector. In response to the client's request for an office that seamlessly blends a progressive STEM-inspired image with traditional Japanese design, GARDE, the team responsible for Tokyo office, harnessed their skilled design team and cutting-edge technology to deliver top-tier consulting, design, and coordination services. The outcome is an outstanding space that marries comfort and functionality seamlessly.

The office is situated in a modern building connected to the Kabuki theater in the heart of the historic Ginza area. Our goal was to design a space that blends the "Western" ambiance typical of a global company with this culturally rich location.

A cozy social area that reflects the client's British heritage, complete with a billiard table and a pub-style bar. This space allows the client to immerse themselves in a Western atmosphere. Additionally, the office pays homage to traditional Japanese culture by subtly incorporating a wall paint inspired by Katsushika Hokusai's iconic waves and accent walls reminiscent of Seigaiha waves.

This office's allure extends beyond its design; it hinges on a meticulously planned spatial layout.

In visitor-heavy settings, privacy is crucial. Traditional doors between reception, conference areas, and visitor spaces can feel constricting. To address this, we harnessed the nudge effect—a design principle that promotes spontaneous interaction through environmental cues. This visually separated spaces while preserving an open, inviting feel, striking a balance between inclusivity and security.

By seamlessly integrating the client's desire for STEM and Japanese design elements into the workspace, we've crafted a truly unique environment that encapsulates the essence of a Tokyo office. Through innovative design concepts and thoughtful layout arrangements, we've imbued the office with the client's distinctive identity.

The generously proportioned areas offer versatile customization options, empowering the client to adapt the space to their specific needs. This flexibility fosters an environment where many individuals can gather and enjoy the comfort of the familiar surroundings over an extended period.
