Located in Shanghai, China, the Anyuan Bridge is a lightweight structure that straddles the Suzhou River. The design team innovatively applied integrated resin luminous panels to the railing of the bridge to create a light band at night, like layers of gauze. The location and walking state of pedestrians are captured by the radar sensor, which are visualized in real time in dynamic effects, presented by the continuous luminous plates with the diversified season modes. The transparent characteristics of the resin luminous plate make the lighting effect can be viewed on both sides, pedestrians share the flow effect of the light, either on the bridge, along the river, or on the boat.



Concept:

The theme is "flowing light rhyme shadow, complementing each other into fun", nicknamed "Magpie Bridge". The night view focuses on the structural beauty of the column cable, combined with the integrated resin luminous plate to show the color flowing light horizontally in the railing, like a thin silk string hanging a streamer necklace floating on the Suzhou River.



Science:

Through the multi-section control of linear lights integrated with resin luminous plates, the formation of horizontal color flow lights, showing a soft and advanced form of expression. Radar sensor devices are set on the bridge to capture the position and walking state of pedestrians, and present diversified dynamic effects according to the density of people and season modes.



Challenges:

In order to solve the problem of large wind load of Suzhou River, the light guide plate is cut into a width of 10cm and installed perpendicular to the wind surface, so that the wind pressure area is reduced to less than 10%. Compared with glass, the weight of the special resin plate is only 1/3 of glass, which can reach the standard of 10-20 years without yellowing deformation.
