"The Aesthetics of Waiting" commences with reflections on my past. I departed from my hometown in pursuit of my dreams, leaving behind family and friends who were the bedrock of my confidence. Starting anew at a university in New York, devoid of attachments, and with the specter of longing ever-present, I felt increasingly desperate and eager. Despite living diligently, I perpetually felt inadequate, profoundly lonely, and enduringly anxious. I pursued my dreams relentlessly but lacked self-assurance, perpetually questioning if this path was truly mine to tread. However, upon graduating from college and revisiting the tools, fabrics, and materials I had employed, I realized the extent of my toil, growth, and the significant strides I had made as a designer since my university entry. I had once believed I achieved naught despite forsaking everything, yet this was untrue. Longing for my family further nurtured my creativity. Also, despite profound loneliness, the hope of a future reunion I had whenever I gazed at the sky, finding solace in the thought that my family shares the same view, further ignited my passion as a designer. Longing, once associated with negativity and anguish, ultimately became a supplement, rendering me more vibrant and blossoming. This collection endeavors to express the invaluable growth bestowed upon me by 'waiting', utilizing remnants from past projects that serve as poignant reminders of my development and experiences. Employing shiny extra-fine silk organza as the principal material, I aim to illustrate the abstract concepts of my past life, longing, and ambitions, akin to foam accumulating around me, symbolizing growth. Additionally, the notion that the sky might serve as a fundamental link between me and my family inspired me to incorporate various stylish representations of the blue sky into my collection. I hope the juxtaposition of transparent fabrics with bold and vibrant ones, coupled with colorful silhouettes, effectively captures the anticipation of my future and my evolution as a designer.
