ArthroFree Wireless Camera

Lazurite’s ArthroFree is the world’s first FDA-cleared, fully wireless camera for arthroscopy and general endoscopy. It represents a big leap forward in operating room safety and efficiency.



An endoscopy procedure room typically has an average of 35 wires, cords, or tubing, the majority of which are dangerously exposed above the floor. These wires cause personnel to trip, slip, and fall, sometimes resulting in serious injuries. In addition to causing injuries, wire-related accidents also break operating room sterility, resulting in disrupted or canceled surgical procedures.



Attempts to remediate the problem have been imperfect: bundling wires together to reduce the number of loose, independent wires, covering exposed wires on the floor with a nonslip heavy mat, or running wires from ceiling outlets to equipment high above ground.



The idea of a wireless camera solution came to the Lazurite team after an operating room accident: a nurse tripped over cables and fell, shattering her wrist. It was a lightbulb moment for Lazurite: What if the hazardous wires could be removed altogether? Years of engineering and technical challenges followed. Now, with the ArthroFree, a dangerous operating room distraction has been eliminated.



The ArthroFree runs on batteries, features built-in, non-LED lighting, and sends video wirelessly to a monitor on the instrumentation rack.



It offers several significant benefits to surgeons and operating room staff:
