As the secondary residence, located above the owner's company, this space is designed to provide a tranquil living environment and accommodate business receptions and social gatherings.

Given the aforementioned context, the designer narrates the space around the theme of “opposition and integration.” The overall space is distinctly divided into “black” and “white” to represent initial states of opposition. Elements like people, greenery, and wooden products serve as the “gray” that harmonizes the space. The goal is to achieve a final state of integration.

The entryway dispenses with a visual center and focal point and welcomes the sideward inflow of natural light with a layered progression of functional blocks. While accommodating storage needs, the design imparts an initial impression of “emptiness” and “simplicity” upon entry, so as to spark a curiosity to explore further.

The open design broadens the space and facilitates interaction with adjoining spaces. The designer uses innovative folding cabinet doors to conceal the cooking area and maintain the kitchen's neat appearance and the integrity of the space's main wall. The act of unveiling the stove becomes a ritual that symbolizes family prosperity and reverence for life.

Internally, the dinning room serves as a vital setting for family dining and communication, while externally, it acts as a prestigious venue for hosting private banquets that aid in the host's career advancement. Therefore, the designer has chosen a round dining table as the centerpiece of the dining area, which accommodates the style of Chinese dining and embodies harmony and reunion.

The living room occupies the largest south-facing area with the best lighting and views in the public space. It's the main area for relaxation and hosting tea conversations with guests.

The master bedroom is designed around the most expansive window area, where large floor-to-ceiling windows further extend the space. It offers a pure, natural, and elegantly tranquil atmosphere for the owners to get better relaxation and rest after a busy day.
