Trail of Clocks: Oriental Watch Company Shanghai HQ Design

Oriental Watch Trading Company, a listed company established in 1961 in Hong Kong, has commissioned Encore Architects to design its China headquarters office in the heart of Shanghai.

The client's idea for this design is to retain the tone and style of old-school Hong Kong, and hopes to express the product attributes of the brand through materials and modeling abstraction.

The chief architect of Encore Architects, Qianshuang Joseph Song, found his inspiration in the trajectory of gear meshing in mechanical watches, and abstracted the curve of the gear into concentric circles with different radii and corresponding tape lights, which appeared on the ceiling of the lobby and training room. At the same time, materials that expressing attributes of ''the old-money-style'' were selected: white stone, gold sandblasted stainless steel and various patterned marbles, creating a classic, simple and elegant tone of the office space.

Other innovative materials such as flexible stone-like veneers, cement-based textured paint, custom door handles and window frosting patterns were used to echo with the theme of "Trail of Clocks".
