About The Entry

The region name “Yingge” originated from the homophonic Mandarin name of a huge rock located in the mountain north to the city, which is called the Yinge Stone as the stone appears to be an eagle overlooking the city. “Ying” in Mandarin can stand for Eagle and Orioles while “Ge” mean Singing; the name “ Ying Ge” brings out the joy of a bird singing. The Yingge Stone has been going hand in hand with the region Yingge through its progress and the civil development. This spectacular natural wonder has been viewed as the landmark of Yingge.

Coming from the Yinge Stone, the inspirational of “Guarding of Yingge” integrated Yingge’s wide known ceramics with the shape and adds a tasted of modernism to this public installation and being a guardian of the flourish and prosperous city. Through this public installation, the profound culture can be promoted and meanwhile can generate indigenous recognition, which propels the artistic transformation and generalization. In addition, “Guardian of Yingge” can be regarded as the symbol of culture scene of “Yingge”.
