The lantern was designed for the traditional Lantern Festival in Lunbei Township, Yunlin County, which was re-launched after a four-year hiatus. The designer took "dragon" as the core, representing auspiciousness and joy, aiming to combine respect for tradition and the pursuit of community harmony in the process of inheritance and innovation. The special feature is the translation of dragon as "Loong", which facilitates international communication. At the same time, the shape of the lantern incorporates the "8", a symbol of wealth and happiness in Chinese culture, highlighting its cultural significance and creativity. The five-meter-high giant dragon lantern, located in the Center Plaza, became the highlight of the festival. The well-designed visual effects, such as the angle of the dragon's head and the clouds at its base, vividly recreate the dragon's magnificent walk, symbolizing the hopefulness of the new year.
The Lantern Festival once again brightened up the streets, symbolizing the fusion of cultures and the unity of the community. What's more, it demonstrated the cultural context of Lunbei Township and inspired the community's understanding and appreciation of beauty. The dragon lantern served as the guardian god of the people. The designer made every effort to enhance the visual impact of the work and at the same time interpret the blessing meaning of the dragon in depth, making it a carrier of positive messages for the celebration of the traditional festival.
