Changsha Yanghu Tianxu

The project is situated in the Xiyanghu area of Yuelu District, Changsha. It is adjacent to Jingyuan Road and the Yanghu Water Reclamation Plant, and is part of the Yanghu Ecological New Town. The project is intended to exhibit the fusion of Changsha landscape culture and modern urban life through landscape design. "Elegant Residence" focuses on creating a landscape space with a courtyard pattern and exquisite gardens. Inspired from the local geo culture, the design blends elements of the "Xiaoxiang landscape and humanities" and combines" mountain residence, water residence, and academy residence" with the space features. This modern design language establishes a connection between the residence and inhabitants, fostering spiritual belonging and identity. Residents can indulge in the reverence and politeness of the academy, as well as the familiar living atmosphere. Ultimately, the project aims to craft a modern ideal residence rooted in tradition. The garden layout adheres to the spatial sequence of the eastern tradition and is inspired by the garden and architectural layout of the Yuelu Academy. The three main natural areas, the mountain view, the water view, and the botanical garden, are designed to offer familiarity and exploration, and make the natural landscape a part of everyday life. Leveraging gardening techniques that prioritize essence over form, the main landscape of the entrance garden reimagines the classical garden elements of pines, water, and mounded slopes in a modern manner. The stone landscape wall at the south entrance harmonizes with the natural surroundings of the Xiaoxiang area, creating a visual flow leading to Minglun Shuitang. The water platform aims to foster a sense of being enveloped in clouds and mist, while the Sapium sebiferum is rendered in its natural splendor, symbolizing the strength and beauty of organic growth within this setting. Natural stones, such as black mountain stone, are used to mimic a forest stream, accenting the seamless transition between materials and the artistic effect of piling up by hands. This design approach blends natural and modern elements in order to accent the coherence of nature and spiritual well-being.
