CSJS DESIGN was commissioned by the owner to renovate an old building in Lishui, Zhejiang Province, which is located along a sub-street, by using part of the first floor as a multi-functional office space. In view of the noisy and disorganized environment surrounding the building. After planning the possible behaviors of the users in this space, the CSJS DESIGN team decided to abandon the direct interaction between this space and the outside, leaving only the "light" and the "virtual image", to create an interior space that reaches out to the soul and triggers people's thoughts.

The indoor space is divided into two main parts, as well as three supporting functional areas; When the space is used as a whole, all areas play their own roles without duplication of functions; and when idle, it can also be used as an independent part of the area, open to the public as a shared space, realizing a full range of functions in a limited area. When it is used as a shared space, only the other "owner" of the space (the cat) is allowed access to parts of the space that are not open to the public.

The load-bearing columns are separated from the curtain wall, and the lightweight glass material forms a whole when viewed from the outside. The single-sided sandblasted glass serves as a substantial barrier to the outside world, which is extended (glass) into the interior to break the initial contour of the building. The center partition wall, cabinets, and shelves are made of a consistent material and are particularly integrated, which weakens once again the sense of boundaries between the various areas.

We keep a piece of transparent glass as a peephole, which becomes the "only way" to communicate with the outside world.

When viewed from the outside, it is a preview of the interior of the space before entering it; while inside, it is the only real image left in a world of "virtual images".
