Bar Domani is designed to replicate Italian street scenes, using European arch-shaped windows to connect the outdoor and indoor spaces. The design focuses on maximizing visual effects through elements such as utilizing light to create depth and layering in the space, coordinating tones and furniture for a delicate and cultural ambiance, and enhancing the organic feel with a copper-coated bar counter.
Inspired by Italian street scenes, the design recreates a harmonious blend of past and present, reminiscent of the cultural atmosphere found in refurbished European old houses. The open layout
offers guests a relaxed experience akin to leisurely strolling through European streets. The arched windows on the restaurant storefront introduce generous natural light, and outdoor landscaping features a diverse selection of plants, recreating the natural and rich feel of Italian style while maximizing environmental benefits.
The designer minimized the separation between indoor and outdoor spaces using arch windows, allowing the scenic view to seamlessly blend and enhancing visual transparency. The use of faux terrazzo floor tiles near the bar enhances the Italian feel, while the simple ceiling design maintains a relaxed ambience without excessive embellishments. The private dining booth provides privacy without a sense of enclosure, and the dark teal color and the hanging lights highlight its presence while maintaining coordination with the overall restaurant design.
Light control is a key focus of this project, with a Bluetooth-controlled lighting system offering high adjustability. Lighting is used to create spatial layers, with bright lights at the serving counter and subdued surroundings simulating a distant glow, adding depth to the space.
The central bar counter features a unique copper thermal spray coating, providing a seamless and intricately detailed appearance that is challenging to achieve with traditional metal surfaces. The thermal spray coating, which is more susceptible to the effects of time and the environment, will naturally oxidize with use, giving the bar a culturally rich and organic look.
