New Water Edge along Maurice River

NJ as the garden state, only half of the farmland is remaining
compared with 1950s. We have made great efforts to protect
farmlands. But the values for what is preserved are not clearly
articulated or focused.
I am trying to strengthen the stormwater management values and
tourism values to farmlands. I chose the area along Maurice River,
where the farmlands concentrated in the upper stream.
During hurricanes, except for the sea surges along coastal area,
the problems happened inland are not neglectable. The overflow
of the water caused a series of problems,dams being washed
down, stream banks being eroded, down steam flooding. The
more water released from upstream, the more severe hazards will
happen downstreams.
So there is an opportunity for the upstream farmlands to do a better
job during storms--- reduce the downstream maximum water height
or delay the arrival of the flood peak downstream, like an upland
sponge. So I focused on this upper watershed, above the union
lake.
