It is a touch of freshness hidden in an isle.

It is a trace of ease concealed in the art.

It is a cross-over between the academy and new life.

Located in the core area of the old campus of Xiamen Academy of Arts and Design, Fuzhou university, the project was transformed from a large sculpture studio in the 1980s, which was formerly a studio with several well-known contemporary sculpture artists.

We transformed it into a complex art space integrating coffee, exhibition, and retail while taking maintaining its original features as a principle, thus focusing on the multiple expression of aesthetics, showcasing a corner of aesthetics in one space. Different kinds of themed designs and artistic exhibitions will be held there regularly to select global independent designers’ products and feel the core of aesthetics in the atmosphere of the smell of coffee. The combination of decomposing reality and ideals makes every customer of 1/2Coffee Roasters a member of aesthetic life, forming a complete artistic utopia, where you meet the Muse in your mind.

From the perspective of humanities and aesthetics, we are about to introduce the concept of decomposition and reconstruction into space and use constructive techniques to complete spatial segmentation and narrative. The implant and application of scaffold components is not only the application of constructive techniques, but also a kind of conversion and connection of potentials, fully showing a new perspective and dimension of space.

We will divide the building into three functional areas: the first floor is for coffee retail, the second floor is for designer brand collections, and the third floor is for exhibition space, which is a composite retail space. It aims to preserve the vertical patio from the first to third floors, thus establishing a complete atrium system, which becomes the core of this creation.
