Deloitte, a global professional services leader, revamped its full-floor meeting and reception area in Shanghai, China. The aim was to create a green, low-carbon, collaborative, and branded space featuring Shanghai elements and state-of-the-art technology. This redesign aligns with Deloitte's ESG and sustainability strategies and enhances experiences for clients and employees. Deloitte Shanghai’s innovative workspace exemplifies the company’s commitment to ESG, boasting certifications including LEED Platinum, WELL Platinum, BREEAM Excellent, and China's first zero-carbon space certification for a conference room. The design concept, "Rhythm (or Green) of Light and Shadow," plays on the Chinese homophones for "green" and "rhythm." Key design elements include vertical grilles and avant-garde ceiling patterns. The interaction between the grilles and sunlight creates dynamic, rhythmic light and shadow changes, complemented by green elements symbolizing Deloitte's energetic and diverse corporate culture. Notable design features include a Customised Grille Light Strip, symbolizing the passage of time and Deloitte's brand heritage on the Huangpu River; a Technological Front Desk, a slanted, 3D customized desk offering an unobstructed view of the Huangpu River, providing a stunning visual experience; and an LED Screen, displaying real-time energy consumption and environmental data, reducing energy consumption by over 20%.

A floor-to-ceiling logo embedded with greenery welcomes visitors from the elevator lobby. The iconic Green Wall, featuring a triangular bay pattern, represents the Huangpu River, balancing historical Puxi and modern Pudong areas of Shanghai

Deloitte Shanghai’s revamped space sets a benchmark for sustainable office design by meeting top international standards and incorporating local cultural elements. This project demonstrates a blend of innovation, sustainability, and cultural integration, paving the way for future developments in green office spaces
