The design draws inspiration from Tibetan culture, using the blooming shape of the Gesang flower as a central motif. It organizes the space around a central activity hall shared throughout the four seasons by enclosing it with four distinct functional blocks: medical, educational training, research, and standby. This setup caters to four types of users—patients, medical staff, researchers, and office workers—creating an environment where individuals can work independently without interference while also fostering harmonious interaction.
The design addresses the challenges of a cold climate with the goal of reducing building energy consumption by over 50%. It employs passive energy-saving techniques such as optimizing building orientation, controlling the form factor, adjusting the size of north-south windows, and exploring thermal envelope construction. Active energy-saving measures include fresh air heat recovery and intelligent lighting control. Additionally, it incorporates renewable energy sources such as solar and air heat, aiming to create a near-zero-carbon medical building cluster suited for cold environments.
