This work with profound meaning deeply explores beauty of life, sorrow of death, and infinite possibilities of artistic expression from a distinct perspective. It name, “The chair’s perception and realization”, not only refers to the intuitive feeling brought by this human skeleton-inspired chair, but also suggests that the chair will evoke deep contemplation and awakening of life.
Rooted in a deep thinking on the nature of life and a unique insight into death philosophy, the work breaks away from absolute praise for the bright side of life in traditional art, and bravely faces the two sides of life. By introducing the skeleton — an element symbolizing both support of life and end of life into the design, it creates an atmosphere featuring both coldness and warmth.
In this work, the skeleton boasts brand-new vitality and artistic expression. The meticulously crafted bones are cold, strong, exquisite and well-textured like the real bones within the human body, while also presenting a sublime, expressive aesthetic through ingenious artistic treatment. The bones are intertwined and mutually supported, which results in a stable whole that gives a sense of dynamism, looking as if a living creature calmly recounted its story; the chest cavity is the beginning and ending point, which can be filled with blooming flowers, or wrapped around cold white mourning flags. The work, by virtue of a special medium — the skeleton element that symbolizes life and death, reveals the coexistence of tenacity and frailty as well as gentleness and resilience in life, whereby viewers can draw strength and hope from it.
