Skyfall Coffee Interior Design Project

The "Skyfall" coffee project is located within the Dongguan Commercial Building Group, a century-old architectural complex in Dalian, recognized as a culturally protected site. This project seeks to honor the unique historical and cultural significance of the building by integrating an interior design that reflects a seamless blend of industrial and modernist aesthetics.

The design extensively employs cement art paint and stainless steel structures, creating a contemporary yet raw and authentic atmosphere that echoes the building's industrial past. The restrained color palette and the use of raw materials are deliberately chosen to contrast with and highlight the building’s historical character.

One of the most striking features of the design is the installation on the first floor, where polyurethane foam rocks are suspended from the ceiling, accompanied by a soft membrane light. This combination serves as a visual representation of the sky, with the soft membrane light symbolizing the heavens above. Beneath this installation, wave-patterned stainless steel elements are used to evoke the ocean, encapsulating the essence of the "Skyfall" concept.

This thoughtful integration of lighting and materials not only adds a dramatic focal point to the space but also connects the interior environment with the broader narrative of the building's history and the thematic concept of "Skyfall." The project represents a sophisticated dialogue between old and new, where modern design practices pay homage to the rich cultural heritage of the site while introducing innovative elements that elevate the overall experience for visitors.
