The Symphony of Space

If the space is composed by melody of notes, what is the song it is playing?



This design case starts from the human-based spirit, depicting a piano instructor’s music-loving soul with the language of space. The designer sets the house owner’s beloved instruments-- the piano and the cello, in the center of the house as the primary role. In the meantime, for the space design of the whole house, the space and the daily activities’ mobile line is expanded from the center point. The musical instrument is the subject of this movement, while the space is the beautiful and indispensable underscore!



The design idea of the aisle and the ceiling is like the stave, which exerts the up-and-down curve to show the movement of music.

As for the transposition design of the dining room and the kitchen, the ceiling can be considered as the keyboards of piano, while the material of floor is like a picture presenting the color of sky in Van Gogh’s paintings. In the musical score, the light is as the dancing and aesthetic notes, while the artistic coating wall is the background stage of the subject of piano, telling the intersection of music and space in the dream sky.

The melting sky and earth, as well as the soul of man and thing, meets in the world of music. When the house owner plays piano in the center, the pulse of space becomes the origin that arouses inspiration.



Moreover, the designer even values the perfect balance between the space functions and aesthetic elements. Each space component, such as the living room, dining room, bedrooms, bathroom, and etc., is extended from the center point—the subject of music, and is built together with diverse materials to agitate the soul of art, beautiful and functional in our daily life.



With space as the underscore of the subject, music; and, with a soul that loves music and art, a perfect symphony has been created in this design case!
