Jovan Oasis Cinema in Huzhou

The project is inspired by the movie “Ready Player One,” which aims to create a high-end cinema in the Huzhou market, leveraging the Huzhou Jovan Plaza. The cinema features a unique positioning, aiming to dominate the Huzhou cinema landscape and attract young families and white-collar workers.

Taking the theme of Blending Virtual and Reality, the project emphasizes the integration of esports and movie-watching experiences. The public areas are designed with elements from the movie’s public spaces, immersing the audience in the virtual world of “Ready Player One.” The cinema entrance resembles a game interface, with wall logos and color schemes creating a youthful and energetic atmosphere. The lobby, serving as a gathering place for players, offers film selection, shopping and competitive experiences. The lounge area includes a team competition zone, displaying live match footage and rankings on screens. The corridor design incorporates concepts from the “Starry Dance Hall” and “Speed Track,” with dynamic lighting reflecting the excitement and passion of the gaming world.

The auditorium designs are inspired by elements from the movie. The giant screen hall features a “Mobile Suit Gundam” theme, combining mysterious nebulae and Gundam imagery. The VIP hall draws on prop shop elements, with blue light strips enhancing the technological feel. The business hall utilizes the “Memory Unit” concept, with wall-mounted square-shaped lights that are flexible and adaptable to different scene requirements. The children’s hall features Gundam colors and zigzag patterns, creating a mechanical world that children dream of.

The design emphasizes detail and experience, with materials such as stainless steel, aluminum-plastic panels and water-textured glass, creating a modern technological feel. The clever lighting design echoes the gaming world, enhancing the immersive experience of watching movies and competing in esports. The overall design aligns with the cinema’s positioning while meeting the aesthetic needs of the younger demographic. The designer hope that every audience member enter the cinema can feel the awe and excitement brought by “Ready Player One.”
