About The Entry

The F&C Chair transcends conventional seating, conceived by an architect who redefines the symbiosis between spatial form and human posture. Through an architectural lens, the F&C Chair embodies a synthesis of two distinct sitting elevations: the elevated perch of a 750mm bar stool and the relaxed repose of a 350mm lounge chair. This duality is elegantly resolved within a single form, where a 180-degree rotation transforms the chair's function and identity, challenging the boundaries of traditional furniture design.

Inspired by the elegant simplicity of the dovetail clip, the design utilizes two aluminum legs that meticulously grasp an abstracted teak seat. This union not only supports but also elevates the chair to a sculptural entity. The chair's versatility is further enhanced by footrests and headrests, ingeniously attached via another clipping mechanism, thus reinforcing its dual-purpose nature.

The F&C Chair is not merely a piece of furniture; it is an architectural statement, a harmonious blend of form and function. It offers an unparalleled experience of comfort and aesthetic sophistication, seamlessly adapting to the user's needs while making a profound statement in any space.

The interplay of inversion and the dichotomy of positive and negative space is paramount in architectural design. Traditional chairs emphasize positive space, overlooking the potential of negative space. The Flipping and Clipping Chair (F&C Chair) obscures these boundaries, merging different dimensions within a single entity. This sophisticated design redefines spatial relationships, offering a nuanced exploration of functional aesthetics.
