The project is located in Chancheng District, Foshan, at the heart of Foshan Ancient Town.
Environmental Context – Embracing the New City Skyline
Rapid urbanization brings both opportunities and challenges. The design team focused on harmonizing with the complicated surrounding environment in the context of urban renewal, addressing the scarcity and dispersion of public facilities while prioritizing the construction of green buildings.
Design Concept – Green City QR Code
In the project’s vicinity, super-high-rise buildings are scarce, and the area predominantly features high-rise residential buildings and low-rise factories. Iconic public landmarks, such as the Asian Arts Park and Lingnan Pearl Stadium, are located within two kilometers. To ensure the skyline harmoniously integrates with the surrounding residential neighborhood, the design team chose to lower the building height while emphasizing its iconic presence through two 160-meter “twin towers.” To optimize views for each unit, the team carefully aligned the rectangular and L-shaped tower plans with the triangular site, minimizing visual obstructions.
The design features “multiple ground floors, diversely oriented facades, and varied functional circulations,” highlighted by an open-air, terraced internal commercial street that provides ample greenery and sunlight for shoppers.
Inspired by tree shadows, the facade design incorporates a “natural QR code” motif. Perforated aluminum curtain walls create a transparent skin for the buildings, enhancing environmental protection, ecology, and shading. The varying rhythms of the openings add a layer of softness and greenery to the otherwise rigid structure.
The design team envisions this project as a catalyst for enhanced convenience and elevated spatial experience, stimulating economic development in the surrounding area and establishing a new vibrant landmark that represents a green and environmentally friendly city.
