Convene at 530 Fifth Ave

With Convene at 530 Fifth Ave, Convene’s flagship location with over 116,000 square feet of workplace, meetings and amenities spaces, we turned a traditional New York City floorplan into something very dynamic, open and tall. Given this space is in the heart of Midtown, our design team was inspired by the frames all around us and wanted to capture the feeling of “inhabiting the frame”: When walking through the urban environment of New York, we are constantly moving through framed views, whether looking down a long avenue of tall buildings, walking through a facade, subway entrance, park threshold or watching the world through a window. With this idea in mind, the design team aimed to take consumers through an experience at 530 Fifth Ave where they inhabit the frame. We tapped into the active frames of the space - opening them up and walking through them - which allows those in the space to move both horizontally but also vertically through stairs and penetrations into the space so you can inhabit the frame and experience it. Each person becomes engaged with their surroundings. The shapes and forms create a dynamic engagement by pulling the user in and through spaces - encouraging the enjoyment of the different perspectives and views within the space. Furthermore, 530 Fifth Ave uses a range of colors that represent the active and passive nature of the space. The active colors are vibrant and strong with a cooler tone that brings the space to life. The passive colors are warmer in tonality and give a sense of calmness. Further, 530 Fifth allows clients to move seamlessly between work and life; from your desk to getting a flu shot, to an HIIT workout, to celebrating your promotion with champagne delivered directly to your suite.
