Bird Yuan Zhang “White” Concert Tour

Yuan Zhang’s concert tour has the title “White”, associated with the four chapters: Blank, Hidden, Twilight, and Unknown. As the third tour of the artist, the goal of this concert is to emphasize that all the past has led to the present. “White” is the beginning of life since every existence comes from blank. Then, ups and downs appear while growing up, resulting in hiding oneself. Moving forward, twilight occurs when we are ready for new exploration. Finally, the future is unknown and white contains infinite possibility.

The artist’s studio holds the logo that is a silhouette of a flying bird with open wings. More importantly, Yuan Zhang himself named “Bird” as his English name. Thus, the semi-circular wings from the bird logo is the inspirational icon for our stage design.

A giant LED installation is designed to be placed at the center of the stage. This concept not only highlights the visual icon of the tour, but also breaks the audience’s conventional impression that stage LEDs are rectangular. The designer believes that the performance space and content should be a whole, which means that the stage and songs should be in a mutually supportive relationship. Consequently, the semi-circular wings are reflected on multiple occasions during the concert. For instance, the rhythm of stage lights, arc-shaped band platform, and semicircular performance area. All of these elements, together with laser, lights, and projection, contribute to the tailor made “white flying bird” stage for the artist.
