Concept:
The project aims to design a house that maximizes natural light and celebrates the interplay of light and shadow, creating a living space that is both functional and aesthetically inspiring. By incorporating bricks and colored glass bricks, the house becomes a canvas for the dynamic interplay of light and colorful shadows. The inclusion of elegant arch shapes further enhances this effect, adding architectural beauty and functionality. The house features spaces that evolve with the changing light and shadow, creating a continuously transforming lightscape within the home.

Key Materials:
Bricks: This project is located in Xiangshan Park, Beijing. Bricks have historically been a prominent building material in Beijing due to their durability and traditional aesthetic, particularly in structures like the Forbidden City, old city walls, and traditional courtyard houses (Siheyuan). Using bricks in this design ensures cultural resonance and local availability. The kitchen and dining space, living room, and bedroom incorporate skylights with brick arrangements that create void and solid patterns, allowing natural light to filter through. The implementation of arched roofs in each space further maximizes the entry of natural light.
Colored Glass Bricks: Glass bricks allow natural light to penetrate interior spaces while maintaining privacy. Colored glass bricks transform spaces into vibrant canvases where light and shadow dance in a continuous, ever-changing display, casting colorful shadows across walls and floors and creating a vibrant interior ambiance that evolves throughout the day. This not only adds dynamic visual interest to the interior but also allows for creative exploration of color and texture without the need for additional artwork or decor.
