Urban Reception Hall at Dongying Victory Airport

The architectural design of this project is inspired by airplanes and spacecraft. The building's facade resembles an airplane spreading its wings to take off toward the rising sun. Its sleek and elegant design, characterized by a white streamlined exterior, stands out as a distinctive landmark in the open surroundings. Upon closer inspection, traditional Chinese elements are incorporated, adding a sense of gravitas and stability. The single-story structure features three hemispherical designs on the roof to increase localized height, resist strong local winds, and create an 18-meter-tall domed lobby. Combined with lighting design, this creates a majestic and solemn atmosphere. The main entrance features a moon gate and welcoming pine trees, symbolizing hospitality and the auspicious meaning of longevity and harmony.
The interior layout includes reception rooms, private dining suites, and a multifunctional auditorium, all designed in harmony with the public areas. The interior decoration integrates cultural elements unique to Dongying. Each room is adorned with large original oil paintings that creatively depict local themes such as the Yellow River Estuary and the Oriental White Stork. The frames mimic easels, enhancing the artistic vibe. The conference room carpet features patterns symbolizing the unity of the 56 ethnic groups, echoing the Yellow River estuary theme, bringing a dynamic feel to the space.
The outdoor landscape centers around Dongying's city flower, the lotus. The integration of “Lotus Pond Moonlight” with bridge designs embodies traditional Chinese aesthetics. The welcoming scenery highlights the hospitality of Shandong and showcases the unique charm of the city as a symbolic representation.
