Inspired by the apartment's proximity to a river park, the design embraces a natural color palette, with lake green as a unifying hue throughout the space. The use of natural materials—such as hardwood tabletops, furniture, and flooring—extends the connection between the exterior and interior, bringing nature into the home. The homeowner sought a functional yet inviting space, incorporating Danish-style moldings along with dedicated areas for both work and relaxation, including a reading nook by the window.
The dining area serves as the heart of the space, where a freeform wooden table, paired with a lake-green cabinet, introduces a subtle asymmetry that softens the room's overall symmetry. Simplified molding details run consistently throughout, while strategically placed frames divide the living and dining areas, adding depth and visual interest.
The beechwood dining table is the focal point of the space, serving as the gathering hub for the homeowner. Its curved design not only invites conversation but also softens the room, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The nightstand in the living room, crafted from leftover wood from the dining table, adds a personal touch and establishes a meaningful connection to the larger piece. Given the client's frequent travels, a magnetic wall was incorporated into the dining area, providing space for a dynamic memory wall of postcards and magnets, making the space both functional and personal.
The TV wall amplifies the space’s visual tension and volume. The sitting area by the window in the living room doubles as both storage and a side table, with a frame-like structure that complements the overall design. Additionally, a thoughtfully designed nightlight fixture in the corridor ensures adequate illumination, guiding residents smoothly through the space at night.
In the master bedroom, a hotel-inspired atmosphere is created through the continuation of the lake-green color scheme and patterned fabric on the bedhead. In contrast, a metal structure for hanging coats adds an industrial touch, while a stylish wooden cabinet ties the room’s aesthetic together.
Although the space is compact, the design maximizes the living and dining areas, creating an inviting and functional environment that feels open and welcoming.
