Graceful Bearing

The project “Graceful Bearing” symbolizes the elegance and delicate, jade-like texture of space shaped by the passage of time. The site is a 29-year-old apartment, where the owner aims to create a warm and comfortable retirement home. Therefore, the design team focused on integrating accessible spaces, planning smooth circulation, and ensuring a long-term comfortable living experience, blending the owner's personal characteristics and life philosophy. Through the use of materials and lighting design, they crafted a soft and layered living space.
The project achieves a soft and richly layered living atmosphere through the delicate integration of different materials. The overall color scheme is based on milky brown, which is warm and rich in detail, bringing a calm and warm texture to the space. The walls are covered with finely hand-brushed textured paint, subtly adding tactile layers, contrasting with the floor's imitation stone tiles that showcase natural patterns and delicate luster. The use of gold and silver sandstone elements cleverly adds a touch of refinement, striking a subtle balance between restraint and opulence.
In terms of lighting design, south-facing light is guided through blinds, creating delicate changes over time that add rhythm and a soft tone to the space. At night, indirect lighting builds up in layers, outlining the three-dimensional layers between materials, making the space more tranquil and atmospheric. Additionally, the concealed door design not only maintains the integrity of the wall surfaces but also ensures smooth circulation, allowing for a harmonious transition between various materials and creating a refined and orderly space.
