De-emphasizing the living room doesn’t mean eliminating it entirely; rather, it involves breaking away from the traditional layout of “sofa + coffee table + TV” to unlock more possibilities for the space. This approach better aligns with the client’s preferences, habits, and family interactions. For instance, if the client enjoys tea, the tea table should be placed in the prime viewing spot. If daily TV watching isn’t a priority, there’s no need to display a television or design a TV wall. By examining the space from the homeowner’s perspective, the design can focus solely on meeting their needs without trying to please others. It embodies a bold sense of autonomy, as in, “This is my house, and I’m in charge.” The dining area is particularly reflective of the client’s personal aesthetics and preferences, characterized by its colorful and organic nature. For the kitchen and dining space, a Bvlgari Black color scheme was chosen, with a rectangular island counter paired with a round dining table. This interplay of shapes creates a more harmonious and sophisticated atmosphere, where every meal throughout the seasons is treated with care. The female client takes great pleasure in crafting delicate pastries in this space and sharing them with family and friends. The space is accentuated with artistic chandeliers and wall art, evoking a sense of openness and vitality. Dead spaces in the original architecture were transformed into indoor landscaping elements, adding depth and layers to the overall design. The master suite embodies the ultimate in minimalism, with black as the dominant color. The aesthetic blend of old and new creates a sustainable, natural modernity. This comfortable and relaxing space offers the client a sense of complete envelopment and security. Considering the width of the hallway in the space, we opted not to place a separate lounge chair. Instead, we designed a bed that includes a lying area. This allows the client to have a dedicated spot to recline, apart from the bed itself.
