The 323.5-meter Hui Guo 90 high-rise office tower, designed by Aedas under the leadership of Global Design Principal Dr. Andy Wen and Executive Director Nicole Liu, is poised to become Taichung’s tallest landmark upon its completion in 2028. Situated in the vibrant core of Xitun CBD—adjacent to Taiwan Boulevard and surrounded by civic landmarks like Taichung City Hall and the Opera House—the tower redefines urban harmony through fluid, nature-inspired architecture.
Drawing inspiration from the poetic imagery of mountain waterfalls (“A silver cascade plummets from the heavens”), the design features a sleek, curved silhouette with rounded corners. Its silver-gray glass façade, accented by vertical mullions and gradient calligraphy-inspired edges, mirrors the sky while evoking cascading water. The tower’s four subtly varied facades create dynamic street-level perspectives, ensuring a memorable identity from every angle. The north elevation, facing Taiwan Boulevard, showcases a sculptural interplay of overlapping curved panels and terraced balconies, resembling a waterfall split by rocks. The south façade, oriented toward the CBD, employs softer curves to harmonize with its business-centric surroundings.
Functionally, the tower integrates ground-level retail spaces with upper office floors, each with dedicated entrances to ensure operational efficiency. A triple-height office lobby, clad in champagne gold metal and stone, offers a luxurious arrival experience. Landscaped plazas with linear patterns guide pedestrian flow, enhancing urban connectivity and visual coherence.
Dr. Wen emphasizes that a landmark’s essence lies not in height alone but in its enduring artistic spirit. Hui Guo 90 embodies this philosophy by blending cultural motifs, structural innovation, and sustainable practices. The tower’s façade transitions seamlessly from bold sculptural forms to refined details, such as the calligraphy-inspired edges and rhythmically layered terraces, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Nighttime lighting accentuates the building’s fluid curves, transforming it into a luminous beacon within the cityscape.
By harmonizing aesthetics, functionality, and contextual sensitivity, Hui Guo 90 aspires to be both a dynamic business hub and a timeless symbol of Taichung’s urban ambition, setting a new standard for high-rise design in Asia.
