A school project which began with investigating a constantly evolving eco-cultural-material system such as a pod, cell, and signal. Inspired by the structure of the chameleon cell, I designed a transformable hotel experience that is supported by the innovative twisted interior layout, monochromatic materials selection, and changeable lighting effect.

I believe a good interior design always associates with experience design. For this project, I position myself as a customer and truly consider all the design elements. The Spa is located in one of the youngest cities in the world, with only 30 years of history. The spa constantly changes throughout the day, targeting young people who always seek for a unique experience. I challenge myself to combine exciting and calm spa experience in one space.

As the name suggests, Spa Chameleon has two conditions, hiding or contrasting the surrounding nature, for both Introverted and extroverted users. During the day, natural light that comes from nature into the interior space is the dominated lighting source. It creates a beautiful shadow and color. At night, changing artificial light attracts people to important spaces.

Twisted interior walls in-between guestrooms contribute to the unique experience as well. It maximizes and differentiates the use of the spaces. Living room, bedroom, and bathroom live in between the twisted wall. The geometry eliminates the edges in order to improve comfort level.

no matter where you are, you can always notice the center infinite pools, a place for people to gather and socialize. Hot springs located in the forest allow people to have an intimate and biophilic experience.

I choose monochromatic materials to create calm and minimal interiors, which allow the reflection and refraction of the LED light at night as well.
