Tranquility Meditation

The project is inspired by the homeowner's deep longing for Zen meditation—a desire to have a sanctuary for the soul amidst the bustling urban area, due to the unique structure created by merging two units, a square column unexpectedly formed at the center of the space. The designer ingeniously transformed this structural constraint, elevating the column into the spiritual centerpiece of the home, perfectly embodying a lifestyle philosophy that blends the worldly with the transcendent.

"All beings in the world are caught in the cycle of reincarnation; our illusory attachments drive the cycle, and its conclusion is liberation." Reflecting the building's structural qualities, the central column became the ideal vessel for conveying the concept of reincarnation. The designer painted ink-wash Zen imagery on the floor and around the column, while the curved pathway that encircles it evokes the path of spiritual practice—each step serving as a meditation on one's attachments, turning the pathway itself into a journey toward enlightenment.

The living room is transformed into a meditation space, symbolizing a profound shift in life perspective. Embedded in the ceiling, auspicious cloud light fixtures—crafted with translucent, jade-like powder—create an atmosphere reminiscent of a rolling sea of clouds. Gold-foiled, hand-painted wall art manifests a subtle, refined splendor as it plays with light and shadow. Instead of sofas, modular, colorful cushions can be freely arranged and reconfigured, reminding residents to maintain flexibility and an open mindset.
