A Group of People -- Sculptural Furniture

Everyone is in a state of continuous change. This clothes rack is inspired by feelings of friendship and aims to express the process of moving from strangers to friends. When you look at the piece from the side, you can clearly see two people standing apart. As guests hang their clothes on the rack, it begins to resemble a group of people standing together, the gap between the figures is closed.

This process is not only a physical closing of the gap, but also a journey of the heart. It is made of three different kinds of wood, birch, beech and oak. Each of the two ‘figures’ holding up the rack are made of a different wood, showing a relationship between two people. Here, different wood species, with their unique colors and textures, shape the character of these two figures. Their postures depict them holding hands, while one extends an inviting hand, welcoming another to join.

This gesture symbolizes an open invitation to you, encouraging a sense of intimacy and connection. Through its form, this clothes rack becomes more than just a functional object—it embodies a quiet, gentle presence, like a friend in your space.

As people begin placing clothes on it, the piece gradually comes to life. With garments from yourself and others, interacting with the clothes rack turns into a playful experience.
