“Jieyou Hut”,A Therapeutic Urban Space

"Jieyou Hut" - Urban Breathing Station: Design as Therapy for Urban Wrinkles



The project is Located in the golden triangle area of Suzhou Gusu District - adjacent to resi-dential areas, schools, hospitals, and commercial complexes. This project aims to revitalize underutilized urban spaces while precisely addressing the core needs of new employment forms workers (online car-hailing drivers, couriers) and local communities.



Inspired by the concept of a "Breathing City," the design employs multiple innovative strat-egies to create therapeutic urban spaces that pulsate with life. Constructed with cloud-white steel structures and warm-toned timber, the transparent cubic volume blurs architec-tural boundaries through organic integration with the ancient city's texture. A dynamic light-and-shadow system combined with preserved greenery creates comfortable urban natural pockets.



"Jieyou Hut" exemplifies human-centered design by providing laborers with intelligent charging stations, climate-controlled rest areas, and emergency medical kits. This 24-hour Community Shared Hub includes study nooks, children's play zones, and a mobile book ex-change, creating an engaging environment for all ages. Additionally, it features the "1㎡ Art Project," showcasing diverse art forms, including new media and interactive installations, transforming the space into an Urban Aesthetic Therapy Space that enriches the communi-ty's cultural landscape.



"Jieyou Hut" represents an exemplary case of revitalizing ancient cities. Not only does it enhance urban connectivity, but also achieves sustainable development goals through its strong replicable business model. The project demonstrates how design innovation can transform marginal urban spaces into vital community assets with multi-dimensional social benefits.
