About The Entry
“It is the artists of the world, the feelers and the thinkers who will ultimately save us; who can articulate, educate, defy, insist, sing and shout the big dreams.”
— Leonard Bernstein
In urban development, architecture serves as the focal point of a metropolis, showcasing the local cultural characteristics to both residents and visitors. The structure, nestled amidst lush greenery, emerges as a rising star, humbly blending into its natural surroundings and exemplifying a design that thrives in harmony with the earth. Located at the intersection of Taiwan Boulevard and Huanzhong Road—two significant thoroughfares—this project is the western gateway of Taichung City and a critical hub for entering the urban area via Highway 74. Naturally, it has become a significant site for displaying the city imagery of Taichung City. Adhering unwaveringly to the design philosophy of "integrating modern urban art and nature," the project draws inspiration from the rich aquatic vegetation nurtured by the surrounding waterfront environment. The team transforms the building to symbolize crawling-up ivy, using clean, crisp lines to shape its framework while incorporating plants vertically. The facade creates dynamic aesthetics of plants climbing upwards and signifies the city's flourishing vitality, embodying the hope for harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. With a design concept centered on " urban modern green architecture," this project aspires to accomplish a new landmark for Taichung City.
The architectural inspiration is derived from the vitality of aquatic plants along Taichung's Fazi River, symbolizing the city's dynamic energy and growth. From an ecological perspective, the site's setback design, Taiwan Boulevard, with double rows of trees, creates an exquisite streetscape akin to the Champs-Élysées. A plaza-style open space seamlessly links the surrounding environment, achieving a harmonious blend of urban culture and natural ecology. The facade design features beige stone and dark gray glass as the primary materials that exploit a poised and understated modern language to exude the elegance of a metropolitan luxury residence. In addition, the building's massing adopts a symmetrical layout with clear priorities.
