Amid the downtown area, this modernized residential townhouse is prepared for a couple of retired senior citizens. Adapting to the house owner’s high-educated upbringing and their tastes of oriental lifestyle, this sustainable building comprises oriental connotation, where interior architecture is inspired from concepts of bamboo material.
Bamboo obtains multiple symbols of resilience, integrity, and modesty in Asia culture. Throughout the holistic master-planning, the public space, living and dining areas, is suffused with multiple materials of nature, permeating raw and lively shadow effects with daylighting; whereas, minimal linear composition of wood-framing and poles of timber are jointed and found in private bedrooms, which endlessly prolongs just like bamboo entwines and sprouts up, building up composed and literary ambiance and presenting the house owner's tasteful lifestyle.
The study nook is situated at the highest story of building, integrated with multi-functional rooms. Responding to the saying that, while people live in hustle and bustle, metropolitan pace, they ‘can’t see the forest for the trees,’ the interior arrangement not only sustains artful and cultural undertones, but also extends to bountiful landscape. The parapet is cladded in laterite, a vernacular clay material recalling affections to the culture of city. Light tint of shades on ceiling seamlessly forge a wave of silky movement, creating an extraordinarily poetic space, and echoing to artistic daily of retire life, tranquil and ethereal.
