Demetres Cafe: a space designed to create a captivating and engaging atmosphere that is intriguing without excessive decoration.

The approach towards the cafe design was for the guests to enjoy premium desserts in a casual yet upscale atmosphere. An experience filled with story-telling and indulgence. The cafe feels like a renaissance itself - rebirth after a tragic event that traumatized the community. Now, there’s color and life inside, that extends outward to engage the passerby, arising a sense of curiosity. As you enter, there’s a sense of healing. You are instantly caught in the wilderness, in the raw nature with translucent illustrations of tropical plants. As you glance up, you’re mesmerized with the soft mesh clouds suspended above, accompanied by little metal birds, and the play on metal continues on the back wall in the form of a chrome wall with a biophilic pattern. To add more subtle finesse, wall sconces and mirrors layered with vinyl for added optics make for the perfect photo spot for diners.
The backroom has a sweet and light vibe like a confectionery-jewelry store, with white thin polygonals adorning the mirrors and custom acrylic art pieces displayed throughout. A large mural frames the room with a colour-changing clouds that add lightness and flair.
The existing dark stairwell gets covered in cloud images to invoke a feeling of security and excitement as patrons transcend down to the washrooms, where they are met in a vestibule remade to feel like a living room complete with ambient music playing.
