As the inaugural flagship residential development in Shijiazhuang’s Longquan Lake Area, Plot 55 carries strategic significance in establishing ecological and planning benchmarks. Located between the Taihang Mountains and the plains, and rooted in the Longquan Lake Wetland system, the project balances high-end residential living with environmental preservation. It envisions a sustainable model that integrates wellness, tourism, and innovation industries within a natural framework, guided by the philosophy of “seeing the mountains, gazing upon the waters, and remembering the nostalgia of hometown.” Drawing inspiration from the natural textures and cultural heritage of Luquan District, the design interprets the imagery of “mountains embracing waters” into a spatial narrative, using the concept of a landscape painting scroll to guide a transition from urban edge to natural hinterland. Classical Chinese garden techniques such as “scenes changing with every step” are reimagined with minimalist aesthetics to create immersive, emotionally resonant spaces. The site’s complex 12-meter elevation difference is addressed through a “three-dimensional landscape weaving” strategy: terraced planting theaters, ecological gradients softened by native vines and rustic stone, and multifunctional retaining walls that integrate cascading water and floral installations. These approaches turn topographical challenges into spatial highlights while ensuring universal accessibility through gently sloped paths and scenic platforms. Sustainability is at the core of the project, with permeable paving and rain gardens forming a low-impact drainage network that retains 75–85% of annual runoff, exceeding provincial Sponge City standards. A landscape composed of over 80% native species and 35% bioswales promotes biodiversity and microclimate resilience, while green roofs and vertical greening systems further enhance ecological performance. The project meets and surpasses national residential planning standards, incorporating energy-efficient lighting and water recycling to establish a replicable low-carbon living model for the region.
