Set within the Sugar Beach resort in the serene location that is Flic en Flac in Mauritius, stands the islands freshest dining & nightlife destination Buddha Bar Beach. Revolutionary in its approach, Buddha Bar Beach satisfies the islands craving for a new and exciting experience. Versatile in every way, the space adheres to all of the functional requirements of the hotel and demands of the demographic. We have been able to create a space respective of its inherent resort which doesn’t alienate itself, but has become elevated in its aesthetic and offering. Appealing to the multi-diverse culture of Mauritius, with both its esteemed gentry and younger party elite, the venue has become a cool destination frequented by all. The ultimate success lies in the approach made by influential hospitality operations Buddha Bar to Sun Resorts, as now the venue is promised to attract a greater following, all influenced by the intelligent design application applied by Bishop Design.



Surrounded and inspired by an intoxicating affection with rum, we set out to create a rum library which would celebrate the indigenous creation of the beloved beverage sweeping the island. In the early stages we also learnt that the food offering was to be enhanced with a contemporary Asian-esque approach, offering a raw bar inclusive of sushi, oysters and a multitude of other mouth-watering oceanic delicacies. The design direction had to reflect the hotels newfound ideologies, and create a hotspot destination for hotel guests and surrounding residents to lift the islands spirit in its absence of intriguing F&B experiences. The concept was something the client felt the island was missing; a captivating modernized dining & nightlife destination that would excite and be frequented by all on the island.
