Taking the cultural context of "Xiangshan Ancient Path – Silk Road" as the core, the design extracts the spiritual essence of "orchid" (purity, elegance, and the demeanor of scholarly gentlemen), integrating Oriental aesthetic意境 (artistic conception) with modern lifestyles. It aims to create an elegant scholarly residence with both international vision and cultural heritage, satisfying the needs of high-educated families for socializing, leisure, and family cultural inheritance.
1. Cultural Origin
Inspired by Confucius’ "Orchid Room," the design infuses the scholarly spirit symbolized by the orchid (purity, humility, elegance) into every spatial detail. The character of the "gentleman among flowers" is metaphorically expressed through artworks, materials, and colors. For example, the "water gathering at the heart of heaven" patio motif in the entrance foyer echoes traditional feng shui while conveying the reclusive ambition of a "secluded orchid in an empty valley."
2. Target Clientele
Aimed at multinational executive families:
• The male owner combines international vision with refined taste, passionate about socializing and golf.
• The female owner, a venture capital executive, enjoys art collecting.
• Children, aged 17 and 15, study in Hong Kong and prepare for overseas education, receiving a blend of Eastern and Western education.
• Elders, as retired educators, emphasize family cultural inheritance.
The design balances international aesthetics with cultural identity.
3. Style Integration
Based on modern minimalism, the design incorporates Oriental symbols (calligraphy, screens, tea ceremony) and luxury materials (brass, leather, solid wood). Through the technique of "simple form, profound meaning," it achieves the symbiosis of traditional artistic conception and modern functionality.
With the orchid as the spiritual anchor, the design transforms the "elegant life" of Eastern scholars into perceivable modern scenarios through spatial storytelling—from the social etiquette of the ground floor, to the private living quarters on the second floor, and the diverse experiences in the basement. It not only meets high-educated families’ pursuit of quality life but also conveys the core values of "cultivating the mind, advocating elegance, and inheriting tradition" in family culture through the metaphor of "entering an orchid-filled room." This creates a contemporary scholarly residence where "form meets rhyme."
