The AREP has transformed the historical industrial factory buildings on Beijing's Zhichun Road into the Haijieya Innovation Center, preserving the birthplace of the "Dong Fang Hong 1" satellite and integrating modern medical technology to showcase cultural heritage. The design, centered on the theme of "Connecting the Past and Present, Embracing the Future," respects and celebrates the beauty of the architectural structure while endowing it with new functions. New constructions are separated from the original structures to protect the industrial heritage, with modern design colliding with historical textures to bring new luster. The original structure is preserved, and modern elements are added, such as the silver aluminum-clad space capsule, which contrasts harmoniously with the historical atmosphere. The floors, walls, and structures create a rustic space, while red walls, ecological plant walls, and water bodies add a balance of color, allowing visitors to feel the cultural charm. The project minimizes demolition and reconstruction, preserving walls and main structures to respect history and provide possibilities for future functional expansion, ensuring sustainability. The outdoor landscape design respects nature, preserving trees and combining new and old elements to reduce energy consumption and create healthy indoor spaces, embodying the concept of harmonious coexistence with nature and providing sustainable development infrastructure.
