Yu Yu You You

In the vast ocean, many fishes gather under the light source and hover around. Maybe it is due to curiosity, maybe they are trying to survive, or maybe they want to find a companion. This is the phototropism of fishes. These characteristics are like humans who are full of curiosity about the underwater world. Using the perspectives of divers watching the underwater world, this space has been created in a fashion as if it is in the ocean, and being surrounded by the fishes.
This work is exhibited on a small island. In the early age, the islanders relied on the ocean for their livelihoods. Therefore, when I was conceiving this work, I used lights and hoped to create where people look up into the sky on the sea, enjoying sunlight coming through and feeling surrounded by fish.
This work is exhibited at a place where there is strong wind. So, in its design, I have used punched metal plates as the main structural materials. The tiny round holes, other than letting the air to go by, allow lights to come through. The conical shape of the work also gives visitors a sense of being wrapped up inside of it.
