Amid the surging tide of cultural tourism, SAGA City of Light, undertaken by French production company Puy du Fou, has made its dazzling debut in Shanghai’s Xuhui District. As a complement, “City of Light · Origin Gift Box”—a VIP-exclusive collector’s item crafted to commemorate the inaugural year—serves as a key to a unique cultural tour.
The gift box adopts the same color as an important prop—the red cloak, complemented by the engraved patterns of Art Deco style and the metal doorplate with the LOGO, forming a “vessel” that encapsulates Shanghai’s wartime stories in the 1930s. Drawing inspiration from Shikumen in Shanghai, it pioneers a ‘double-door’ form. The act of opening the doors gives a sense of ceremony, and makes the guest feel as if getting into character, delivering an immersive “open-the-box-and-enter-the-drama” experience. Meanwhile, a multi-layer nested structure ensures a more engaging journey of exploration. The upper layer houses five exquisite badges—not merely decorative pieces but VIP access tokens to five exclusive stories—transforming spectators into participants fully immersed historical reenactments. The climax of this immersive journey reveals itself in the concealed drawer of the lower layer: a sumptuous red velvet cloak, faithfully reproduced from the theatrical costume, boasts specially designed collar fasteners to secure any chosen badge. When the guest dons the cloak and affixes a metal badge to the collar, the elegant shoulders bring to mind the trench coat commonly worn by gentlemen in the 1930s, instantly morphing the wearer into an “anonymous supporter” within the theatrical universe.
“City of Light · Origin Gift Box” embodies a profound dialogue between an international cultural tourism master and Shanghai’s urban memory. It grants VIP guests not just a physical collectible but a spiritual identity. When stepping into the immersive space, guests adorned with the badges and dressed in the cloak become active participants, witnesses, and inheritors instead of mere spectators, who will write their own remarkable stories in this cultural tour.
