This design project is located in Yiwu, Zhejiang, and is a high-rise residential private house renovation project. Starting from the core concept of "de stylization" in spatial philosophy, this study explores a form of residential expression that transcends the boundaries of time and culture by deconstructing spatial aesthetics. Ultimately, it presents a multiple tension that blends classical and modern, Eastern and Western, rough and exquisite, breaking the existing aesthetic order and making space a carrier of free will.
The design inspiration for this case comes from the "old western-style house" - a metaphor about time, temperature, and memory, a nostalgia for the ritual of past life and a longing for the texture of future life. Design does not pursue label based expression in style, but rather imbues space with a more inclusive thinking logic through the technique of "eclecticism". Compromise is not a stacking of elements, but a sober rebellion that rejects standard answers and embraces the beauty of contradiction and opposition.
In the space, we can see a lot of narrative about the recombination of time and culture: minimalist concrete walls coexisting with 18th century brass candle holders, Ming dynasty armchair juxtaposed with Memphis carpet, and wabi sabi texture conversing with Bauhaus rational lines. By comparing materials, calculating proportions, and skillfully introducing lighting, designers have created a spatial rhythm of "harmony in diversity". By blending the warmth of walnut wood with the coolness of metal, and cutting the edges of modern modular furniture with the classical lines of arched doorways, a new harmonious logic is established amidst conflicts.
Beyond visuals, this case focuses more on the humanistic care of space. Furniture is not only a functional carrier, but also a container of memory: Persian carpets record travel stories, and industrial steel frame supports are used to make pottery. These objects with "individual temperature" are embedded in the space, making the design a game that transcends form and aesthetics, and a place to place life experiences.
