Nestled along the Nine-Bend Stream in the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, this resort sits within a landscape of breathtaking natural beauty, cultural depth, and traditional villages. The design draws from the philosophy of “unity between heaven and humanity,” creating an immersive experience that integrates Wuyi Mountain’s iconic scenery with the essence of tea culture. The concept—“crystal-clear waters embracing vermilion cliffs, and a millennia-old legacy of mountains, waters, and tea”—is woven throughout the architecture and interiors.

Culturally, the design distills visual and material elements into a unique identity. The hotel’s color palette is inspired by the tea mountains, the brick tones of northern Fujian dwellings, and the amber hue of Wuyi rock tea. At the reception, a large-scale resin tea leaf installation captures the lifelike texture and color of tea gardens, reflecting both artistic craftsmanship and regional culture. This work corresponds with a lily-shaped sculpture in the atrium, evoking serenity and a connection to nature.

Guest rooms feature installations inspired by terraced tea fields, reinforcing the themes of retreat and seclusion. The overall design activates the senses—body, mind, and spirit—creating a space where guests can feel immersed in the natural and cultural rhythms of Wuyi.

Innovation lies in how the project redefines wellness resorts, offering a culturally immersive and site-responsive model that resonates emotionally with guests. Challenges included material expression, crafting intricate resin works that balance durability and detail, and coordinating across disciplines to deliver on an ambitious vision under time constraints.

Sustainability was a guiding principle from the outset. Environmental assessments informed the layout, avoiding ecologically sensitive areas. Existing trees and vegetation were carefully preserved and integrated into the landscape design, minimizing deforestation and erosion. In this way, the project not only celebrates the region’s heritage but also embodies a respectful and harmonious relationship with nature.
