Kinghood Group Financial Center (KGFC)

This KGFC project is located in the heart of Cuiheng New District, eastern seaside area of Zhongshan, as well as the geometric center of The Greater Bay Area. The KGFC’s program consists of Two Office Towers linked by elevated “City’s Lounge”, Four Service Apartments, exhibition hall, and retail blocks.



The project was sited within a field-grid street system that gave not only rigidity in planning but also visual blockage. To overcome the challenges, a core element (the Exhibition Hall) to recreate the axis the diagonal of the site, generate a new dialogue with the city. The orientation of towers formed as an open “V-shape” to maximize the views and daylight. The height of the towers was arranged carefully in a gradation pattern, from north to south, to re-create a harmonious skyline with the surrounding context and let the breeze pass through.



The podium retail was shattered around the Exhibition Hall became semi-outdoor street blocks, allow visitors to view and access from all directions. To create a seamless linkage between L1 and L2, an elevated-circular-footbridge, with Semi-outdoor dining and lounges, acted as bonding agents to link all towers and provide a continuous retail experience.



In between towers, building edges were chamfered both at top and bottom, allow daylight easily to penetrate through. Terraces and balconies were placed carefully along the chamfered edge and allow sufficient daylights to get in.



The transparency and unique design approaches made this project site-specific that responds to the context and connects people with an appropriate scale.
