Mr. Shen’s Residence at Licai Yao Chang’an

Situated at the doorstep of Yinghua MRT station in Taichung’s vibrant Xitun District, this residence offers a serene urban retreat adjacent to a lush park and within close proximity to the bustling Fengjia commercial area. The project began as a pre-sale unit transformation, where the key design challenge was to integrate two separate units into a cohesive, expansive living environment. This transformation prioritizes openness and flexibility, creating a dynamic yet comfortable home for a modern family.

The core design philosophy centers on “open integration” and “flexible functionality.” By breaking down barriers between the living room, dining area, and kitchen, the design crafts an airy, interconnected space that enhances natural light flow and spatial continuity. This open layout fosters stronger connections among family members, encouraging interaction and communal living without sacrificing privacy or utility.

Functionally, the residence features an open study area and a versatile multi-purpose room that amplify the sense of spaciousness. The carefully curated furniture layout maximizes flow and visual harmony, while subtle architectural elements—such as the bespoke partition with geometric ironwork—add both form and function by delineating zones without enclosing them.

Material selection underscores the contemporary yet warm ambiance of the home. Italian special coating paint adds texture and depth to the walls, contrasting gently with sleek melamine cabinetry. The innovative use of LED aluminum slot lighting throughout enhances both aesthetics and practicality, offering customizable illumination that adapts to different moods and times of day.
