The packaging, tailored for Xifeng Liquor, is a profound interpretation of its 3,000 years of history. Guided by the cultural strategy of ‘the Belt and Road Initiative’, it draws inspiration from the cultures of Shaanxi (birthplace of Xifeng Liquor) and Chang’an (starting point of the ancient Silk Road, namely present-day Xi’an), utilizing the elements of traditional cultural relics to showcase the rich cultural deposits of the capital of thirteen ancient dynasties.
The bottle resembles the upright sitting posture of figures during royal banquets in the Qin and Han dynasties; the cap brings to mind the elegant ‘yunbin’ (soft and fluffy hair like clouds on both sides of a woman’s temples) of queens in the Qin and Han dynasties, featuring a unique curved top with both sides slightly upturned—conveying royal solemnity and grandeur. The body is depicted with typical elements from four ancient capitals of civilization—Xi’an, Rome, Cairo, and Athens—including the Terracotta Warriors and the Roman Colosseum, vividly demonstrating the significant historical role of Chang’an as a hub connecting the world through the ancient Silk Road. The double-door outer box ingeniously echoes the gate of the Weiyang Palace. This makes users feel as if opening the door to a golden age when they open the box, creating a majestic atmosphere and paying homage to drinking rituals in the Qin and Han dynasties. Moreover, the exquisite phoenix relief applied to the box is derived from the patterns on the screen in the Weiyang Palace, highlighting Xifeng Liquor’s premium quality and upscale position.
As for material and color selection, the bottle employs a secret-recipe celadon glaze (reproducing the iconic glaze of Ru porcelain in the Song dynasty). The gentle, glossy celadon glaze embodies the ancient Chinese cosmological concept of ‘round heaven and square earth’, while the natural texture within the glaze symbolizes the liquor making philosophy of ‘harmony through balance’. Furthermore, the retro, elegant celadon bottle is paired with the stylish leather-textured celadon box. Such a deliberate contrast of materials leads to a creative dialogue between past and present, achieving visual harmony and consistency—seamlessly blending historical culture with modern aesthetic taste.
