The “X” letter is used as the symbol of the museum, that is, two intersecting lines, meaning the infinite possibility of cross-domain collision of ideas, and also the most basic form of interaction. It corresponds the efforts of art museum made in multiple disciplines: In addition to artists, X Art Museum also displays works from architects, scientists, engineers, musicians and designers.Original wall system: With the customized terracotta brick components, metal clips can be inserted into the gaps in the wall, so that paintings, installations, projectors and even white walls can be hung on this wall system.

For this special wall system, the usual wall washer or downlight cannot be used as ambient lighting, because it will produce deeper shadows. The shadows at the lower part of the wall will be deepen and lengthen, and even cover the texture of the wall itself. The lighting designer worked closely with the architect to customize and design a long strip light box whose three-sided light emission method and non-directional diffused light give the exhibition hall a uniform and soft light as far as possible. The projecting and recessed wall texture is evenly and softly expressed and contrasted, presenting a light and dark surface with an appropriate brightness ratio and an appropriate three-dimensional effect. This long strip light box not only produces the ambient light of the exhibition hall, but also cooperates with the streamline of the linear exhibition hall to become the guiding sign and decorative element of the space.

This approach allows X Art Museum to breakout the ordinary “white cube” space, bringing a new way of arranging and displaying artworks for audiences.Introduce colored light into the exhibition hall of the art museum is a bold attempt and breakthrough. Contemporary avant-garde artists’ works are diverse. They combine multiple sensory elements such as sound, light, and videos into the creation. The lighting conditions of the exhibition hall are also diversified according to their works. The flowing colorful lights are combined with installations to create interactive artworks to create significant artistic scene.
